Evil Sock....or How to throw your project across the floor!

I decided to try the 2 socks on 2 circs method recently....and was quite unsuccessful! I used a tutorial from the internet. I couldn't even get the cast on right! When I finally had both socks on the needles, the working yarn tangled and I threw the whole thing across the floor while screaming a few expletives! So for the sake of my sanity (or whatever is left of my sanity), I frogged and then went back to my 1 sock on 2 circs method. I still cast on a larger dpn and then move the stitches to 4 of the right size dpns and do the first several rows on them, then transfer to 2 circs...somehow it is easier for me that way. Since taking this picture over the weekend, I have got almost all of the foot done (and I am almost out of yarn....what to do....since I bought 2 skeins and it said 2 skeins make a I think I will get as much done as possible, then put this one on scrap yarn and start the next...then if I have anything leftover from sock #2, I can get them both completely done....worst case is I will find a coordinating yarn to do the toes with). But this project will be put away before Friday in anticipation of Sock Wars!!!!

Here is the swatch I made for Sock Wars! The colors of the photo don't really do it justice...colors look a little washed out here....I took the picture with my Sidekick 3 (which takes better pics than SK 2, but my digital camera is even better). I think this yarn will make some pretty socks....I normally use fingering weight for my personal socks because it is thinner and I live in a very hot place....but I like how this one turned out....if I move up north, I will have to knit up some socks with this kind of yarn! The swatching (done with dpns size 5 and of course done in the round) went pretty quickly! I hope the pattern goes just as fast so I can get them done and send them off asap! I won't get home Friday (the day we get our patterns) until around 6pm and I won't be home all day Satruday (Deaf day at Busch Gardens) so I hope I will be able to catch up on Saturday night and get some serious knitting done!!!

Thoughts....a quick update

So we went to a Silent Coffee last night at Starbucks.....I tried John's Tangerine Frappucino (deliviious) and I got a Pumpkin Spice Frappucino! I can't believe it is almost Fall again (my fave season....unfortunately Fall here is not like Fall up north and I really get sad missing it all).....I also can't believe I have been married 8 years!

We went to The Melting Pot on Tuesday for our anniversary...very nice and romantic!

Not too much planned for for a webcam and some books.....that's about it for now!

As promised oh so long are pictures of the Waldorf doll I made for my cousin's son....This was my first attempy at crocheting a cap and latch-hooking in the hair!

This is a doll I helped our neighbor make...her outfit was inspired by the clothing that Nigerian women wear....

I will post some sock pics addition to my yarn for sock wars (starts in about a week)! For is a pic of me!

It's been a while....

I have been extremely busy lately what with getting back to work and all. Lucky for me I am at a decent school and there is less stress this year. I am also doing a VRS mentorship in my free time.

I haven't even gotten pictures ready to post so I will do that next time....a picture of a Waldorf doll (which I have 3 more dolls to make soon) and also some more sock pictures. I have got to get the 2nd sock done and off the needles as I am gearing up for Sock Wars!

Also, I will be posting my review on Knit Picks needles and KIPers!

I got in some beautiful sock yarn recently that I want to use asap (I am gonna attempt 2 socks on 2 circulars to speed things up!). I recently bought a yarn swift and ball winder...finally! I wound all of my sock yarn and was in shock as to how much I actually have! Prolly enough to last me a year at the rate I knit them (hence the need to learn 2 socks on 2 circs)!

Things are great at home....we wil be celebrating out 8th wedding anniversary in less than 2 weeks! It seems like time has flown! Hopefully we will be starting a family soon!

That's all for now! Will blog more later....
