I am not one to go out shopping in the craziness....instead I went to Sandy's place for a photoshoot. Unfortunately, I laughed (and goofed around) the whole time. She took over 300 pictures. Sandy, Heather and I went to see New Moon this afternoon. Since Heather hadn't seen or read Twilight, we forced her to watch the DVD last weekend so she would be ready.

The theater was pretty full (and it wasn't all crazed teenagers), and we even got in to see an earlier show than what we had planned.

All in all, the movie wasn't terrible. It was a little better than the first one because it followed the book better.

I must say that I have never been around so much swooning before....and we giggled at it quite a bit. The thing that irked me the most was that Bella's mouth was hanging open almost the whole movie, and anytime she looked at anyone or anything, she went a little cross-eyed...hence the title of this post.

But I am working on a new pair of socks. I finished the 1st one and am working on sock #2. I'm making the discover socks from Cat Bordhi's Personal Footprints book and I like them a lot! It's always fun to learn new techniques. I am hoping to get done with them this week so I can post some pictures.

Speaking of this week, it's gonna be a long and hectic one! I have to stay late Monday-Thursday and then work Saturday night too! The good news is that I am off work for the whole following week...and then only have to work a few more weeks until my 2 week Winter Break!!!

Almost missed posting today! So Sandy's birthday was yesterday, We celebrated today with Heather too! There was a viewing of Twilight (including much laughter and Sandy saying the lines before the actors), knitting, playing with dogs (even though Dottie was a bad girl and peed on our bed's new comforter) and eating of pizza. We had a great time!

It's really hard to go back to work after having a day off in the middle of the week. All day today it felt like a Monday. Only 6 more workdays until I am off for the week of Thanksgiving!

As we were heading out to the warehouse part of the store, we stopped to snap a picture of a world record attempt. This whole daylight savings time thing has kicked my butt! I think it's because it gets dark so much earlier...which makes me want to go to bed earlier.

Today I finished the green sock and tonight I will cast on the 2nd while watching Survivor. I also need to finish the mystery socks, but I will probably not get to them until I can devote my full attention to the pattern.

It's been 3 years since I started this blog. How fitting that I have lots to write about today!!!

Over the past several weeks, there has been sock knitting:

There has been cooking:

Chicken Pot Pie from "Cook Yourself Thin" (crust was too olive oil-y and insides too water-y for my taste)

Chicken Sausage Pizza from "Cook Yourself Thin" (one of my fave recipes so far)

There has been playing with Dottie and Buster:

And today Sandy, John and I went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. We got our tickets and headed off to the Fancy McDonald's for breakfast.

I called it the Fancy McDonald's because of the comfy chairs at our table. Here's Sandy all comfy-fied with her orange juice.

We got to the theatre, went potty and then John got his Reflective Captioning do-hickey. A few minutes after picking our seats, we were approached by a man asking what the do-hickey was.

I explained that it is for captioning. The guy asked it if was for recording the movie (since when can one record a movie only using a piece of acrylic?) and I said no. He said he was with Anti-Piracy and almost accused John of making an illegal recording. Finally he left and the previews started.

Several times during the movie, he re-appeared with what we found out later was some kind of infrared device to detect camcorders. It had a bright red light on it and he was shining it all around the audience at least 3 separate times during the film. It was quite distracting. When the movie was over and we went to turn in the captioning device, Sandy and I complained pretty loudly about the anti-piracy guy. We were told he works for Warner Brothers. We voiced our concerns about the red light being distracting and how rude the man was towards John. The lady behind the counter gave us free movie passes...maybe we can go see the movie again in Imax in a few weeks without the distractions.

All in all, the movie was pretty good, however I do wish I hadn't re-read the book beforehand....I was getting frustrated with all the changes and deletions that were made. I understand that they couldn't put in everything from the book, but I felt that several major parts were left out and I am wondering how they are going to "butcher" the 7th book in the next 2 movies.

So that is how I spent my blogiversary. Here's to another year of blogging...hopefully I will not be away from it for long periods of time as I have been these past several months.

I know! I know! It's been a while since I have blogged! I have been busy with the end of the school year. Here's what I've been up to over the past several months:

I have also started a new eating plan. I am using the "Cook Yourself Thin" cookbook from the show on Lifetime. Here are 2 things I made (I forgot to take pictures of the first 3 recipes I tried).

Southwestern Turkey Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries

I don't know why I even tried this recipe. I hate turkey and sweet potatoes are pretty low on my list of foods I liked. I don't think I will make this one again.

Chocolate Pavlova

I substituted strawberries for the raspberries. This was absolutely delicious! And not too bad for my first attempt at meringue. I will definitely add this to my repertoire.

Tonight I am making Skinny Down-Home Chicken Pot Pie.

Hopefully since I am off work for the summer, I will be able to blog more and document my cooking and knitting!

After knitting at Panera on Sunday, I went up to the counter to purchase some bagels for this week. Here is the actual conversation I had with the Panera Employee (PE)at about 8pm:

Me: I'd like a half-dozen bagels.

PE: A half-dozen.....hmmm....so that's 6?

ME: Yes. I would like 3 Cinnamon Crunch and 3 Gingerbread. And I would like them sliced.

PE: Ok. Would you like any whipped cream?

Me: Ummm....

PE: I mean, you know....uhhh....sour cream?

Me: You mean cream cheese? No thank you.

PE: Ok. You said you wanted them sliced, right?

Me: Yes.

PE: Would you like them toasted?

Me: No thank you.

PE: Ok. Are these for here or to go?

Me: To go.

Just makes me wonder...was she having a rough night, or do people actually order 6 bagels to eat them all in the restaurant? Do they top bagels with whipped cream or sour cream? And why would I want them toasted if I was going to bring them home?

Last night, John and I went to see Jason Mraz at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. What an awesome show. John and I snapped some shots (he used his Blackberry and I used my camera), but it was rather dark and hard to get good pics.

Here is Anya Marina (the opening act). She was wonderful and now I want to get her cd!

Next up was a robotic Santa that was dressed up to look like the percussionist Toca Rivera.

The screens that made up the backdrop were cool. Audience members could take pics and send them via text message so they could be shown onstage!

At the end of the concert, Jason took out a polaroid camera and took photos of the individual band members and flung the pics out into the audience. We didn't get any.

After the show, we went to the stage door. We got to meet Toca Rivera and John took a pic of him holding my sock-in-progress. He thought it was a pretty weird request!

Then Jason Mraz came out. John was able to take a few pics, but no sock picture. I also didn't get to give him the hat I knit due to the crazy rude teenage girls in front of us! He said hi and went to another part of the fence. They started saying "Oh he better come back over here and give us autographs and let us get a picture!" I am sure he heard them, because right after that, he started to leave. I was able to get his attention long enough to get in a hello and he asked my name and said Hey Kelly! Then he explained that he really had to get going! Damn those stupid teenagers!

Last year we saw the Christmas Tree decorated with balls of yarn at the Gap. This year, there are wreaths and topiaries made of green balls of yarn in Starbucks! Sorry this is such a bad picture. I will try to take a better picture with my new camera at a later date!

We went outside to watch the shuttle launch. We usually have a great view behind our townhouse near the lake and tonight was no exception. Since I really want to leave here, I can no longer take watching the launches from my house for granted.

Tomorrow will be a busy day. I am hosting an interpreter workshop. Of course, I only have one confirmed person, so hopefully some people will decide to come at the last minute.

Today is Sandy's birthday! No pics until tomorrow. I will say that we (Sandy, Josh, John and me) went out to Kobe Japanese Steakhouse and had a delicious meal and a great time! I gave her the Amigurumi Dinosaur I made this week and she liked it. Again, I have a few pics to post tomorrow and I will probably snag some from Sandy's Flickr set too!

The next Amigurumi project will be a Turkey. I am loving making these little dolls!
